The term PMKISAN stands for PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi. This scheme was launched by government of India around the end of year 2018 and beginning of 2019. The main objective of this scheme is to increase the overall income of the Indian Farmers by 2022. I am not sure whether that happened or not but the Indian farmers are definitely getting the benefits of this scheme. Under this scheme, the farmers who have some farming lands will receive Rs. 6000/- yearly in three installments. The farmers who are registered on official website of PMKISAN are getting this benefit up till now. But now, they need to do KYC to keep getting benefits in the future.

PMKISAN scheme

For the people who are getting the benefits of PMKISAN will need to verify their Adhaar to keep getting the benefits of this scheme. This was a simple process a few week ago (FYI – this post is getting written on 2nd of April 2022). Any person could have completed their or any registered person’s KYC simply with their phone. They just had to visit the official website of PMKISAN and go to the e-KYC option. They had to enter the Adhaar and click on verify. Upon getting the OTP to the Adhaar registered mobile number, they had to submit it and that’s it.

But recently, the official website faced so many traffics so that it was unable to provide service. Later the website went under maintenance and when it came online, the process of KYC has been changed from OTP based to biometric based. Now the benefiters have to go to their nearest CLC center and get their Adhaar verified using fingerprint or other biometric options.

To tell you the fact, a government website getting down in India are very common and if you think, it’s not very surprising. Considering large population of India and having lazy people (just kidding) who only do the needful when deadline arrives, the most common thing that you can expect is having too much traffic on websites which results in server overload. Now, you may think that what about the big tech companies who get the traffic from the whole world (almost) like Google and Facebook? Well, the only reason that I can think of for their serves not getting overloaded is, being a big tech company, they will have big large server farms all over the globe which may (most certainly) reduce the possibility of server overloading to negligible. Or I may be completely wrong. To tackle this problem Indian government generally increases the deadline of the scheme. Similarly, in this case too, the deadline for PMKISAN KYC has been increased to 22nd of May, 2022.

Even though the deadline has been increased, I would suggest the benefiters to get done with their KYC as soon as possible.

Purpose of KYC

To start any scheme without KYC has many possibilities of abuse. Having KYC ensures the success of the scheme as well as the ultimate benefits to scheme benefiters because the benefits that were going to fake profiles would add into the benefits of the real ones directly or indirectly.
